Emirates Cricket’s Inaugural ‘UAE Cricket Leagues’ Men’s T20 series second-round was played at Abu Dhabi’s Zayed Cricket Stadium on Wednesday night.
In the first of 2 second-round match-ups, Ajman Cricket Council posted a resounding 8-wicket win over Abu Dhabi Cricket Council.
Winning the toss, Ajman sent Abu Dhabi in to bat subsequently restricted them to 134-runs at innings end (for loss of 9 wickets).
Abu Dhabi’s attempt to add runs to the board was aided by some stunning shots by Rizwan Amanat, smacking 3 massive sixes for his 48-runs (35 balls).
Ajman’s turn with the bat saw them chalk up 139-runs in the 15th (over) with 8-wickets to spare, securing their first win in the Inaugural Leagues.
In what was a ‘Man of the Match’ performance, Ajman’s Faizan Asif put Abu Dhabi CC’s bowling attack to the sword with an aggressive 82 from a mere 42 balls, smashing 9 fours and 5 sixes all over the ground.
Round 2’s second match will be played Thursday evening where Dubai will face Sharjah at the Dubai Cricket Stadium (8pm).
Bringing together the four Councils of Abu Dhabi, Ajman, Dubai and Sharjah, the Men’s T20 series is the third series in the Inaugural UAE Cricket Leagues. The Leagues will be played in the highly-popular formats of T20 and 50-over formats in boys, women’s and men’s categories, and will be played through a 28 match-schedule across the UAE.
