Emirates Cricket Board has announced the team that will represent the UAE in the upcoming ICC Intercontinental Cup (ICup) and ICC World Cricket League (WCL) games against Namibia in September.
ICC’s 4-day ICup (First Class) will commence on Saturday, September 16th and conclude Tuesday, September 19th.
WCL’s first 50-over (International) game will be played on Thursday, September 21st, with the second played Saturday, September 23rd.
All games to be played at the Wanderers Cricket Ground, Windhoek, in Namibia.
Zayed Abbas, Emirates Cricket Spokesperson said; “We have been greatly anticipating the ICup and WCL series against Namibia, and we are extremely confident the team will post strong results against the hosts.” “Participating and doing well, in these tournaments, is vitally important in continuing our climb up the ICC rankings ladder.”
UAE will embark on a 12-day preparation camp, 6 days at the Cricket South Africa High Performance Centre (University of Pretoria), followed by a 6-day preparatory period in Windhoek, ahead of their campaign against Namibia.
“Throughout the Summer the team, and the coaching staff, have been working very hard to take their skills and fitness to the next level. This preparation camp will be integral in building on these efforts, and strengthen an already tight-knit, competitive team. We wish them an effective camp, and rewarding series.”
