Muhammad Waseem to lead UAE in ICC CWC League 2 Series – Nepal 2026

Dubai, 24 April 2026: Seasoned batter Muhammad Waseem has been named the interim captain of the UAE Men’s National Team for the ICC CWC League 2 Series – Nepal 2026. UAE will play Nepal and Oman in the double-league tri-series – pathway for the ICC Men’s ODI World Cup 2027. The series will be played at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur. 

Waseem has previously led the side in 26 ODIs. He has replaced Rahul Chopra (ODI captain) who has been rested for the tour. UAE will play Nepal in their first match of the series on Saturday 25 April. Their next three matches are on Monday 27 April, Friday 1 May and Sunday 2 May against Oman, Nepal and Oman respectively. All series matches will begin at 9:30am local time.
