Abu Dhabi, UAE, Monday December 3rd, 2018: Emirates Cricket Board has today officially announced the team that will represent the UAE in the upcoming Asia Cricket Emerging Teams Asia Cup 2018.
To be hosted in Pakistan, UAE have been drawn into Group B which will see them compete against Hong Kong, Bangladesh, and hosts Pakistan.
Played in a 50-over format, the tournament will commence on Thursday December 6th and be played through to Sunday December 9th. The 2 top teams from Group B will travel to Colombo (on 10th December) to compete in the knock-out stage.
Waleed Bukhatir, Emirates Cricket Board Member and Chief Selector said; “The importance of this tournament cannot be stressed enough, we are very grateful to Asia Cricket for their unwavering commitment to this tournament, which adds to a strong development pathway for our sport. Scheduling matches between Associate Member teams, to test their level and skills against Full Member sides provides such invaluable experience.”
“We are very pleased with the depth and strength of this team (that will represent the UAE). We expect them to put forward an exceptionally strong performance, and secure our place in the knock-out stage.” added Bukhatir.
